Mahd-i-'Ulyá (b. 1828-1904?) was born Fátimih and was the second wife of Bahá’u’lláh. Her title Mahd-i-'Ulyá means the "Sublime Cradle". She married aged twenty-one to the thirty-two year old Bahá’u’lláh. She was married before, but her family was martyred, Fátimih was the first-cousin of Bahá’u’lláh. Bahá’u’lláh was married to His first wife, Navváb for fourteen years before He wedded Fátimih. All of her children broke away from the Covenant and were very resentful over the Holy Family.
